What is VaultLedger?

Why should I use VaultLedger?

My offsite storage vendor provides me with software that allows me to see what media I have stored at their vault, so why do I need VaultLedger?
With the VaultLedger tape management system, you have your own database (not just a peek into the offsite vault's database). You'll be able to track, instantly locate, and reconcile all of your tapes and media-both onsite and offsite-to make sure all media is always accounted for. You'll also be able to produce detailed reports to satisfy even the most rigorous audit, and so much more. In short, it will help you manage-not just view-all the media in your company.
Is it hard to create reconciliation reports?
In a word, no. The VaultLedger tape management system uses a very intuitive interface (similar to Quicken®) to reconcile your tapes and other media. Any items that do not reconcile are clearly marked. And with the option of using an online or remote bar code scanner, reconciling your inventory against your vault is not just extremely accurate, but also extremely fast.
If I already have a backup system, why do I need VaultLedger?
Information that is backed up is only useful if you can locate the tape where it resides. That's just common sense. The VaultLedger tape management software solution works with your backup system to help organize your tapes. You'll be able to rotate tapes with ease. Send and receive tapes from your vault with confidence. And reconcile lists and create reports with the click of a mouse.
How does VaultLedger determine when to move media and their storage cases to and from the offsite vault?
The VaultLedger tape management software solution is a calendar-based media management system that manages and tracks your media and storage case as it travels to and from your company and your vault based on the item's return date. If you need a more robust, policy-based media management system that will track and manage your media based on the information that resides on them, then our Vertices® media management software solution might be better suited for you. Please see our media management product comparison page.
How many locations will VaultLedger track tapes from?
The VaultLedger tape management system will track tapes from a total of two locations (onsite and offsite). If you are looking for an enterprise tape management software solution, please look at our Vertices media management product.
Is VaultLedger hard to use?
The VaultLedger tape management system is perhaps the easiest, simplest way to gain control over all the removable media your company produces. And with its intuitive interface, getting up and running takes just a couple of hours.
