New Updates Make BL/SCHED® Even Easier to Use
NEEDHAM, Mass. - September 17, 2004 - B&L Associates, Inc., a leader in data center operation support software, today announced the availability of BL/SCHED 4.5, the multi-platform, enterprise-wide job scheduling system. In keeping with the company's "Stay. Go. Or Combine." campaign, this release of BL/SCHED moves away from its mainframe interface to a more intuitive, web-based interface, with plans for the rest of the application to move to an open environment in 2005. In addition, the new version of BL/SCHED is able to schedule and report on Windows jobs.
"With the success of Vertices, our tape management solution for open environments, the migration path to an open system BL/SCHED becomes very exciting," said Bryce Kramer, President of B&L Associates, Inc. "A solution where the mainframe and open scheduling come together was needed by our clients, and I'm glad we've answered that call."
The new web interface brings a list of benefits from the previous interface, including:
- Access BL/SCHED from anywhere
- Train new users quickly thanks to its intuitive design
- Maintain only one set of code files for easy maintenance
Plus, being able to start and monitor Windows jobs allows the enterprise to:
- Consistent logging on every platform
- Monitor more than process kick-offs
- Setup in minutes
The update to BL/SCHED is the latest in a series of updates B&L has made to its products, responding to the changing needs of their customers.
