Vertices Provides Centralized Control for Symantec's Veritas NetBackup Vault Users.
NEEDHAM, MA - JUNE 3, 2008- B&L Associates, Inc., the leader in open systems tape management solutions, announced that its Vertices® tape management system now integrates with Symantec's Veritas NetBackup Vault, providing centralized, seamless control and audit reporting of all removable media.
Vertices customers that use the Vertices Automation Agent for NetBackup now have an option to run the agent alongside Symantec's Veritas NetBackup Vault. With the new option, tape movements are replicated within Vertices to NetBackup Vault. Administrators can now drive tape movements with NetBackup, yet centralize all tape information within Vertices for verification and cradle-to-grave auditing with a central system.
"This new option gives NetBackup Vault users added control and flexibility over their backup media," said Michael Kramer, vice president of sales and marketing at B&L. "They still use NetBackup Vault as they always have, however with Vertices' new option, all their tape information is captured and centralized for easy access and audit reporting. This is especially useful for organizations that use the NetBackup Vault option on some master servers, but not on others."
B&L, which is a Symantec Technology Enabled Partner, designed the Vertices Automation Agent™ to leverage NetBackup Vault's data protection capabilities. The Vertices Automation Agent interfaces with NetBackup, automatically collecting relevant backup information from the NetBackup master servers.
However, many organizations employ a number of different backup systems throughout their enterprise. That's why in addition to Symantec's Veritas NetBackup and Backup Exec, Vertices has automation agents for other backup systems including , EMC's Legato NetWorker, Hewlett-Packard's Omniback II and Data Protector, BakBone's NetVault, Syncsort's Backup Express and Computer Associates' ARCserve.
This compatibility with disparate backup systems allows Vertices to extend the safety and control that each of these systems offer, while centralizing the control, access and audit reporting of all offline media with one, easy-to-use application.
